Embraer EMB190 E1 to E2 Differences Course

In partnership with E-ATO-299, Fly EPT Spain can arrange Embraer E-Jet family type rating courses, as well as base training, Zero Flight Time Training (ZFTT), Licence Proficiency Checks (LPC) for renewals and revalidations, ATPL skill test and recurrency training. 

The Embraer E-Jet family incudes Embraer E170, E175, E190 and E195 aircraft variants.

Embraer EMB170 Type Rating - Course Description

The course is aimed at pilots who wish to become type rated on the EMBRAER 170, and is conducted in accordance with EASA Part-FCL regulations. The objective of the course is to train cockpit crew to operate the aircraft safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved manuals and procedures, and completion ensures that standards are met, as set by EASA Part-FCL regulations.

EASA has assigned the EMB170 type rating for all its Embraer 170, 175, 190, 195 variants. 

Embraer EMB170/190 Type Rating Course Breakdown

Phase 1 - Torremolinos, Málaga, Spain

- 95 hours instructor led theoretical knowledge CBT training (2 weeks)

- 8 hours of FMS

Phase 2 - 

- 13 Fixed Base Simulator (FBS) training

- 8 hours of Cockpit Procedure Training (CPT)

- 4 hours Emergency EVAC Trainer

- 32 hours Full Flight Simulator (FFS) training

- 4 hours Licence Skill Test (LST)

Phase 3 - Torremolinos, Málaga, Spain

Base Training (6 or 4 touch and go's in the aircraft)

Pre-Requisites for Embraer EMB170 type rating course

  • Hold a valid f-ATPL(A) or CPL(A) with passes in all ATPL theoretical knowledge examinations in accordance with Annex 1 Part FCL;
  • hold or have held a multi-engine Instrumental Rating (IR)(A);
  • Hold a valid EASA Class One (1) Medical certificate;
  • English Language Proficiency (ELP) minimum ICAO level 4;
  • Have minimum 70 hours of flight experience as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on aeroplanes;
  • Hold a certificate of satisfactory completion of MCC course in aeroplanes (if applying for the issue of the first type rating for multi-pilot aeroplane type); OR
    • hold a certificate of satisfactory completion of MCC in helicopters and have more than 100 hours of flight experience as a pilot on multi-pilot helicopters; or 
    • have at least 500 hours as a pilot on multi-pilot helicopters; or
    • have at least 500 hours as a pilot in multi-pilot operations on single- pilot multi-engine aeroplanes, in commercial air transport in accordance with the applicable air operations requirements.

Note:  For additional Type Ratings the IR(A) may not have been expired for longer than 7 years

The duration of the EMB170 type rating course is approximately 5-6 weeks, including days off.

EMB170 Base Training

A number of contracts are in place with the airlines to provide base training on the EMB170/190 aircraft. 

After completion of the ground course and FSTD simulator training sessions, and after successfully passing the Licence Skill Test (LST), a pilot is required to complete base training in order to complete the type rating course.

Base Training involves flying the aircraft itself and completing with an unrestricted Type Rating Instructor (TRI): 

- at least four (4) landings, in the case where the student pilot has more than 500 hours of Multi-Pilot Aircraft experience in aeroplanes of similar size and performance (of an ATR); 

OR, in all other cases:

- at least six (6) landings; 

Including: -

  - at least one (1) full-stop landing; and 

  - one (1) go-around with all engines operating

E190 Differences Course - E1 to E2

- 3 days

- 12 hours Ground school

- 8 hours Full Flight Simulator (FFS) training

Pre-Requisites for Embraer EMB190 Differences training course

  • EMB170 type rating current
  • Hold a valid EASA Class One (1) Medical certificate;
  • English Language Proficiency (ELP) minimum ICAO level 4

Line Training

The ATO works with all Embraer EMB170/190 airline operators and line training can be arranged for newly type rated pilots.
